Our Beginnings
TauRx’s foundations were built upon the strategic support and entrepreneurial vision provided to Prof. Wischik and his team by the University of Aberdeen and by TauRx co-founder with Prof. Wischik, Dr K.M. Seng and his fellow investors in Singapore. What is today the TauRx Pharmaceuticals Group of Companies and its portfolio of breakthrough therapies and diagnostics is an example of how the close relationship between the University and a spin-out company provides the ideal platform for major medical advances. The University of Aberdeen has continued throughout TauRx’s history to provide both discovery research and has led the developments on both medicinal chemistry and chemical manufacture. The support provided to TauRx is a commercial relationship which serves to ensure TauRx has access to new developments to feed our development pipeline. A similar arrangement is in place with the Charite Institute, Berlin which also supported the founding of TauRx and has continued to provide research services to the company.
