Our approach is unique : Tau Protein Aggregation Inhibitors
TauRx’s pipeline results from our unique approach for managing Alzheimer’s disease. Currently marketed AD therapeutics treat only disease symptoms. They work by modifying neurotransmission pathways. But at TauRx, we are developing drugs to treat the underlying pathology of AD, to modify or halt disease progression. TauRx’s pipeline includes clinical stage inhibitors directed against a pathology that has one of the strongest correlations with cognitive decline, namely aggregates of Tau protein. To our knowledge, no other company's pipeline includes clinical stage drugs that act against the Tau aggregation pathology. It is this pathology that leads to the neurofibrillary tangles , originally reported by Alzheimer, as the likely cause of the neurodegenerative disease that now bears his name.
