Alzheimer's Disease : TauRx's Promising Clinical Results
The promise of TauRx’s “Tau Aggregation Inhibitors” (TAIs) has been shown by its first TAI, rember™, in a large multinational phase 2 clinical trial. Psychometric readouts from subjects who received rember™ showed evidence of an 80% reduction in the rate of Alzheimer’s Disease progression over one to two years, compared to controls. Functional neuroimaging results from the trial supported the psychometric data: in patients exposed to rember™, the loss of function occurring in the areas of the brain known to be particularly affected by the tangle pathology of the disease was eliminated over 6 months. Functional brain scan benefits seen at 6 months were predictive of clinical benefit at 12 months. Pivotal international phase 3 clinical trials in individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease and other related disorders are in preparation.
