TauRx?s Tau Protein Aggregation Inhibitor Program and Follow-ons
These programs include the second-generation TAIs, with LMTX as the lead compound, rember™ and a range of other proprietary compounds now in various stages of development for AD and other neurodegenerative diseases such as Fronto-temporal Dementia (FTD) and provisionally Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Anti-synuclein
TauRx is progressing a range of compounds targeted against misfolded synuclein protein, a protein processing defect associated with Parkinson?s disease. TauRx?s technology platform is being used to further characterize these compounds in preparation for formal toxicological evaluation and subsequent clinical development.

TauRx scientists have discovered and are now characterizing a larger number of additional early-stage compounds with potential utility as therapies for neurodegenerative diseases.
Diagnostics
Diagnostic tests assist clinicians in detecting and confirming the nature of a disease and monitoring the effects of therapy. Diagnostic tests can also be designed to detect susceptible individuals who could benefit from preventative therapy. There is at present no way of measuring the amount of aggregated Tau protein or of other aggregating proteins in other neurodegenerative diseases in the brain of patients, this can only be done upon autopsy. The company is developing such brain imaging diagnostics via a collaboration with Bayer Schering Pharma, AG and anticipates that they could not only facilitate the use of the its lead compound in clinical development and future pipeline compounds as therapeutic agents, but also be used to detect very early, presymptomatic disease, to support the development of a new market in preventative therapy.
