R&D Capabilities
Research and Technology Platform
The productivity of TauRx’s research platform reflects the skills and commitment of its research team, many of whom have collaborated with Prof. Claude Wischik, TauRx Co-Founder and Chairman, since the 1980s. The TauRx team has built one of the most extensive and sophisticated proprietary technology platforms, internationally, for the discovery and characterisation of targets and candidate therapeutics for the diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative disorders that arise from alterations in normal protein processing. A special focus is the pathology associated with the Tau proteins, which are components of normal neuronal cells that become altered, leading to cellular dysfunction in some disease states.
For further information see Science and Resources.
TauRx and Imaging
TauRx considers and has used neuroimaging as a key feature of its development program and has a successful relationship with the Aberdeen Biomedical Imaging Centre (ABIC) at the University of Aberdeen and NHS Grampian. The neuroimaging team led by Dr Roger T. Staff and Dr Alison D. Murray have provided TauRx with a full range of acquisition, processing and analysis expertise and support and have acted as the hub for the multicentre imaging trials carried out by TauRx. The team has a full range of brain imaging modality and analysis expertise including SPECT, PET, MRI, fMRI, CT, SPM, FSL and SEM.
Development
The TauRx team includes highly skilled and internationally recognized pharmaceutical experts for both R&D strategic planning and implementation including clinical trial design, execution, data analysis and product registration. TauRx is partnering with top-tier, therapeutically focused clinical research organizations for the implementation of its late stage clinical programs.
